The Node
A real Bitcoin full node hums away behind the counter - our own complete copy of the blockchain, checking every rule so nobody has to take anyone's word for it.

What A Full Node Is
A full node is a computer running the Bitcoin software with a complete copy of every block and every transaction since the very first one in 2009.
It independently checks that each new block follows the rules: no coins created out of thin air, no coin spent twice, every signature valid. If a block breaks a rule, the node simply rejects it - no matter who made it.
Thousands of nodes like ours run around the world. Together they are the Bitcoin network: no head office, no central server, no off switch.
The Whole History
Every block since 2009, stored locally and checked line by line as it arrived.
The Rulebook
The consensus rules, enforced by our own machine - not by someone else's promise.
Why Run One
"Verify, do not trust" is the whole idea of Bitcoin. A full node is how you actually do it.
Verify, Do Not Trust
No bank, exchange or website tells our node what is true. It checks the maths itself and trusts nobody.
Your Own Copy Of The Rules
Running a node means holding the rulebook yourself. Nobody can quietly change the rules on you - your node would reject the change instantly.
True Self-Sovereignty
With your own node and your own keys, you depend on no one to use Bitcoin. That is as sovereign as money gets.
What It Does, All Day
Three jobs, around the clock, roughly every ten minutes forever.
Validates Everything
Every block and every transaction is checked against the consensus rules. Anything invalid gets binned, no exceptions and no appeals.
Relays To Peers
Valid blocks and transactions are passed on to other nodes, helping the network stay fast, healthy and impossible to shut down.
Private Source Of Truth
When we check a balance or a payment, we ask our own node - not a third-party website that logs who asked and about what.
Words You Will Hear
One-liners here - the full plain-language definitions live in the Bitictionary.
Full Node
Stores and verifies the entire blockchain itself - the gold standard of not trusting anyone.
BitictionaryLight / SPV
A lightweight wallet that asks other nodes what happened - convenient, but it has to trust them.
BitictionaryPruned Node
Verifies everything like a full node, then deletes old blocks to save disk space.
BitictionaryMempool
The node's waiting room: valid transactions queueing to be included in the next block.
BitictionarySee It In The Shop
The node sits right here in the cafe, quietly verifying the network while you drink your coffee. Ask us what it is doing - we will explain it over a salt coffee, no jargon required.
